Wide format refillable cartridge kits come in a variety of designs and styles dependent on the printer model. They all offer the benefits of considerable cost savings compared to using original cartridges and increased productivity from longer unattended printing. All kits are simple and quick to install with no permanent modification required to the printer.

These kits feature specially developed refillable bulk ink feed cartridges that are installed exactly as a normal cartridge. The cartridges each contain 220 ml of ink and the translucent design allows for easy monitoring of ink levels. As ink is used and the level drops, the cartridges are simply topped up directly from 1 liter refill bottles, even while printing. Installation of the kit takes minutes to complete and sets the ink monitors to always full. For printer models that use chips to control ink levels, the refill cartridges also include chips. On older Epson models such as the Epson Stylus Pro 4000 & 7600/9600, instructions are included with the kits that enable the chip readers on the printer to be turned off, so no resetting of the cartridge chips is required. For newer Epson printer models such as the Epson Pro 4800, 4880, 7800, 7880, 9800 and 9880, a chip resetter is included with the kit that resets the cartridge chips to full each time they show empty. Using JetBlack™ refillable cartridges and bulk ink saves around 60% compared to using original cartridges not to mention the added benefit of longer unattended production runs. The impact on the environment is also significantly reduced with less wasteful plastic to dispose of.

All refillable cartridges kits include a set of refillable 220 ml cartridges, a 500 ml bottle of each ink, filling funnels, instructions, and a chip resetter (when required). The PK and MK kits include 8 cartridges and 8 bottles of ink. The PMK versions include 9 cartridges and 9 bottles of ink. The Vivid kits include vivid magenta and light magenta in place of the standard magentas.

The Trio system is supplied in kits that include one sleeve adapter, three tanks, and one 4oz bottle of bulk ink per color. By using the included syringes, the ink tanks are filled from bulk ink bottles. A Trio tank is then slipped into a sleeve adapter and placed into the printer. When the ink in the tank has been used up, it is simply replaced by another tank – an operation that takes less than ten seconds – and you continue printing. The depleted tank can then be refilled at leisure. Because the Trio system comes with three tanks per color, you always have two tanks ready and waiting to slip into your printer – no need to stop printing and refill every time a tank is used up. The Trio tanks can be refilled many times and can be purchased separately. The Trio sleeve adapters are fitted with auto reset ink monitor chips that work in conjunction with the ink level monitor software on the host computer. Ink levels are shown decreasing as you print and, when the monitor warns that a color is about to run out, you simply replace the empty Trio tank with a full one, and the ink level shows full again – it couldn't be simpler.

The Trio system is truly a green option for inkjet printing and has dramatically less impact on the environment when compared to normal throw away cartridges. Not only does Trio use over 60% less plastic during manufacture when compared to normal cartridges (it takes around three quarts of oil to make one cartridge), but also the use of the system significantly reduces the number of cartridges to be disposed of. It is currently estimated that approx. 400 million inkjet cartridges per year end up in land fill sites in the USA alone.
